Buffalo Chicken Dip

Buffalo Chicken Dip Recipe

Rebecca
When I whipped up my first batch of buffalo chicken dip, I was hooked at the first bite. The creamy, cheesy goodness combined with the perfect tangy heat was everything I wanted in a party appetizer. I couldn’t believe how easy it was to make, and watching everyone gather around the bowl with chips and celery made it even more rewarding.

Ingredients

  • Canned or shredded chicken
  • Cream cheese
  • Ranch dressing
  • Hot sauce such as Frank’s RedHot
  • Shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  • Start by heating the shredded or canned chicken in a skillet with hot sauce over medium heat. Stir until the chicken is well-coated and the flavor of the hot sauce starts to meld with the meat. It’s the base of the dish, so give it a few minutes to warm through for that perfect balance of spice.
  • Once the chicken is heated, stir in the cream cheese and ranch dressing. Mix until everything is smooth and creamy. The ranch dressing adds just the right tang while the cream cheese brings the velvety texture that makes this dip so irresistible.
  • Add half of your shredded cheddar cheese to the mixture and blend it in until melted and gooey. This step builds bold and rich flavors!
  • Choose your cooking method. If using a slow cooker, transfer the dip and sprinkle the remaining cheese on top. Cook on Low until the dip is hot and bubbly. Alternatively, bake the mixture in an oven-safe dish at 350°F for 20-30 minutes until golden and warm.
  • Garnish with fresh herbs like parsley or a drizzle of extra hot sauce if you want to amp up the presentation. Serve immediately with celery sticks, crackers, or tortilla chips for dipping.

Notes

  • Use Fresh Chicken for Flavor: While canned chicken is convenient, freshly cooked or rotisserie chicken adds a superior texture and taste. Simply shred it and proceed with the recipe.
  • Keep It Creamy: Softened cream cheese mixes in much easier, so take it out of the fridge ahead of time. This ensures a smooth dip without lumps.
  • Adjust the Heat: Taste test the hot sauce level as you mix. Start light, and add more to build the spice without risking overdoing it.
  • Choose Your Cooking Method: Both baking and slow-cooking work well, but the slow cooker is excellent for keeping the dip warm during parties.
