Juicy Ribeye Steak Recipe
Rebecca
When I say this ribeye steak recipe is a showstopper, I mean it. I’ve had my fair share of steak nights, but this one takes the crown for being robust, juicy, and absolutely packed with flavor.
Prep Time 10 minutes mins
Cook Time 25 minutes mins
- 2 ribeye steaks
- 2 tbsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp garlic powder
- 2 tbsp kosher salt
- 1 tbsp steak seasoning or spice rub
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 3 sprigs rosemary
- 2 sprigs thyme
- 3 garlic cloves smashed
Take the steaks out of your fridge and bring them to room temperature. While they’re resting, generously season both sides with kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and your favorite steak rub. Pat the seasoning into the meat for better adhesion. This step ensures every bite is packed with flavor.
Preheat your grill or stovetop to high heat, around 400°F to 450°F. Once hot, place the steaks directly on the grill or in a hot cast iron skillet. Sear each side for 4-5 minutes to develop a golden, crusty exterior. The goal here is a rich crust while locking in all those delicious juices.
Once both sides are seared, reduce the heat to medium (around 325°F). Add the butter, rosemary, thyme, and smashed garlic cloves to the skillet. Spoon the melting butter continuously over the steak to infuse it with the aromatic flavors. Be careful to avoid browning or burning the butter; if it starts to darken, take the skillet off the heat momentarily.
- Let the steak come to room temperature before cooking. This ensures even cooking.
- Use a meat thermometer to avoid undercooking or overcooking. Trust me, it’s a game changer.
- Baste generously with butter during cooking to lock in that herbaceous flavor.
- After cooking, always allow the steak to rest before cutting into it. This simple step preserves those delicious juices.
- For added smokiness, you can toss a handful of wood chips onto the grill before cooking.
