- The first step to making the perfect melon soda float is ensuring your ice cream is ready to go. Take a scoop of vanilla ice cream out of the freezer and let it sit at room temperature for about 5–10 minutes. This softens it just enough to combine beautifully with the soda and makes it easier to scoop if you haven’t already prepared it.
- Choose a tall, clear glass to show off the vibrant green soda. Pour the chilled melon soda into the glass, filling it about three-fourths of the way. Be sure to pour slowly to avoid too much foam and to leave room for the ice cream.
- Carefully scoop a generous portion of the softened vanilla ice cream and gently place it on top of the soda. The ice cream will begin to melt slightly, creating a creamy, fizzy foam on the surface. Watching the ice cream float amidst the vibrant soda is part of the fun!
- For an added pop of color, you can top the float with a maraschino cherry or a thin slice of fresh melon. Serve immediately with a long spoon and straw so your guests or family can sip, mix, and enjoy the float to their liking.
- I personally love mixing the soda with the melting ice cream for a creamy treat, but sipping them separately is equally delightful.
