Mojito Mocktail Recipe

Rebecca
I recently whipped up a batch of mojito mocktails, and I have to say, it was a total game-changer. The combination of fresh lime and mint with a hint of sweetness had me hooked from the first sip.
Total Time 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 3 ounces honey simple syrup
  • 2 ounces fresh lime juice
  • 10 mint leaves
  • 3 ounces lime-flavored sparkling water
  • Lime wheels for garnish
  • Ice

Instructions

  • First, start by ensuring all your ingredients are ready. If you don’t have honey simple syrup prepared, don’t worry; it’s super easy to make. Simply combine equal parts of water and honey in a small pot and heat it gently until the honey dissolves completely. Once cooled, your syrup is ready to use.
  • Gather your lime juice, mint leaves, and sparkling water. Fresh ingredients are key here, as they elevate the flavor of the mocktail.
  • Take your cocktail shaker and add the honey syrup, freshly squeezed lime juice, and six fresh mint leaves. Use a muddler or the back of a wooden spoon to gently crush the mint. The muddling process releases the mint’s essential oils, giving the drink its signature refreshing aroma. Be gentle to avoid making the mint bitter.
  • Next, add about ¼ cup of ice into the cocktail shaker. Secure the lid tightly and shake it vigorously for around 30 seconds. This step chills the mixture and blends all the flavors beautifully. If you don’t have a cocktail shaker on hand, an insulated travel mug works perfectly as a substitute.
  • Fill two glasses with ice. Carefully divide the shaken mixture between the glasses. To finish, top each glass with about 1.5 ounces of lime-flavored sparkling water. This adds a delightful effervescent touch to the drink.
  • Decorate your mojito mocktails with a lime wheel and an extra sprig of mint. This simple garnish not only makes the drink look stunning but also enhances its aroma. And there you have it! Serve immediately and enjoy every sip of this refreshing drink.

Notes

  • Use fresh mint leaves for the best flavor. Trust me, dried mint just doesn’t do the job here.
  • I found that a mild honey works better. Stronger varieties can overpower the delicate lime and mint flavors.
  • If you don’t have lime-flavored sparkling water, plain sparkling water with a dash of fresh lime juice works just as well.
  • For an extra burst of citrus, try adding a bit of freshly grated lime zest before muddling the mint. It makes the flavor pop!
