Philly Cheesesteak Dip Recipe

Rebecca
I’ll be honest, the first time I made this Philly Cheesesteak Dip, I didn’t expect it to blow everyone away. But once I scooped that cheesy perfection onto a crisp slice of bread and took that first bite, I knew it was a winner.
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 35 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 large yellow onion diced
  • 1 pound shaved ribeye steak
  • 3 cloves of garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • ½ pound sharp white American cheese diced small
  • Bread slices chips, crostini, or veggies for dipping

Instructions

  • Start by preheating your oven to 350°F so it’s ready when you need it. Then, melt the butter in a large sauté pan over medium-high heat. Toss in the diced onions and cook for about 2-3 minutes until they soften and turn translucent. The aroma alone will make your mouth water!
  • Add the shaved ribeye steak and minced garlic to the pan with the onions. Sauté everything together for 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the steak is cooked through. Sprinkle in the salt and pepper to season, and then turn off the heat. The juicy steak combined with that garlicky goodness is already a showstopper.
  • Take a large bowl and combine the softened cream cheese and Greek yogurt. Mix until smooth and creamy. This will be the silky foundation for the dip, giving it its rich, cheesy texture.
  • Take the cooked steak mixture and stir it into the creamy base. Then, add half of the diced cheese cubes to the bowl. Mix everything thoroughly so each bite is a perfect blend of flavors. Pour the mixture into your 8×8 baking dish, and sprinkle the remaining cheese evenly on top.
  • Place the dish in the oven and bake for about 30-35 minutes, or until the dip is bubbling around the edges and the top is golden. Trust me, this is the hardest part because the smell will make it impossible to wait!
  • After removing the dish from the oven, give it a chance to cool for 10 minutes. This helps the flavors set and makes it easier to serve. Once ready, grab your favorite dippers like bread, crostini, or vegetables.

Notes

  • Use ribeye for the best flavor, but thinly sliced deli roast beef works in a pinch.
  • Dice the cheese small so it melts evenly and smoothly into the dip.
  • Don’t skip the resting time after baking. It allows the dip to thicken slightly and makes it easier to serve.
  • For an extra smoky flavor, try adding a dash of smoked paprika or cooked bacon bits on top.
