- Thinly sliced beef like sirloin or ribeye
- Soy sauce
- Mirin
- Brown sugar
- Fresh ginger
- Garlic
- Sesame oil
- Cornstarch
- Green onions
- Sesame seeds
- Steamed white rice
Start by slicing the beef thinly (this helps it cook faster). Marinate it in a mix of soy sauce, mirin, grated ginger, garlic, and a touch of sesame oil. This adds flavor and keeps the beef tender and juicy.
While the beef marinates, stir together soy sauce, mirin, brown sugar, minced garlic, and grated ginger in a small saucepan. Heat the mix over low heat until the sugar dissolves. Create a slurry by whisking cornstarch with water and add it to the sauce. Cook until it thickens and has a glossy finish.
Heat some sesame oil in a skillet or wok on medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and sauté until it’s browned and just cooked. Keep stirring so the slices caramelize slightly for an extra depth of flavor
Pour the prepared teriyaki sauce over the cooked beef and toss it thoroughly. Every slice should be beautifully coated with the sweet-savory sauce.
Serve the beef over steamed rice. Top it off with chopped green onions and sesame seeds for a fresh and visually appealing finish. And just like that, your Quick Beef Teriyaki is ready!
- On Rice: Serve the beef over steamed jasmine or brown rice for a classic meal.
