Ingredients

  • Thinly sliced beef like sirloin or ribeye
  • Soy sauce
  • Mirin
  • Brown sugar
  • Fresh ginger
  • Garlic
  • Sesame oil
  • Cornstarch
  • Green onions
  • Sesame seeds
  • Steamed white rice

Instructions

  • Start by slicing the beef thinly (this helps it cook faster). Marinate it in a mix of soy sauce, mirin, grated ginger, garlic, and a touch of sesame oil. This adds flavor and keeps the beef tender and juicy.
  • While the beef marinates, stir together soy sauce, mirin, brown sugar, minced garlic, and grated ginger in a small saucepan. Heat the mix over low heat until the sugar dissolves. Create a slurry by whisking cornstarch with water and add it to the sauce. Cook until it thickens and has a glossy finish.
  • Heat some sesame oil in a skillet or wok on medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and sauté until it’s browned and just cooked. Keep stirring so the slices caramelize slightly for an extra depth of flavor
  • Pour the prepared teriyaki sauce over the cooked beef and toss it thoroughly. Every slice should be beautifully coated with the sweet-savory sauce.
  • Serve the beef over steamed rice. Top it off with chopped green onions and sesame seeds for a fresh and visually appealing finish. And just like that, your Quick Beef Teriyaki is ready!

Notes

  • On Rice: Serve the beef over steamed jasmine or brown rice for a classic meal.
  • With Noodles: Toss it with stir-fried udon or soba noodles for a fun twist.
  • Side Veggies: Add steamed broccoli, snap peas, or even a fresh salad to make it a balanced meal.
  • Garnishes: Sprinkle extra sesame seeds, chili flakes, or fresh cilantro for a pop of color and flavor.
