Ingredients

  • 8 ounces lo mein noodles
  • 12 ounces shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 cup bell peppers thinly sliced
  • 1 cup carrots julienned
  • 1 cup snow peas
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 cup green onions chopped
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional for spice

Instructions

  • Start by boiling a large pot of water. Add the lo mein noodles and cook according to the package instructions until they are al dente. Drain and rinse with cold water to prevent sticking. Toss with a teaspoon of sesame oil to keep them from clumping together.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Set this sauce aside, as it will bring the dish together later.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a wok over medium-high heat. Add shrimp and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque. Remove from the wok and set aside. For another shrimp recipe, check out Garlic Parmesan Roasted Shrimp, which is full of rich, buttery flavors!
  • In the same wok, add a little more oil if needed. Toss in minced garlic, bell peppers, carrots, and snow peas. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until the vegetables become slightly tender but still crisp. If you want a dish packed with hearty vegetables. • Return the shrimp to the wok. Pour in the prepared sauce and toss everything together. Add the cooked noodles and mix well, ensuring the sauce coats everything evenly. Stir-fry for another 2 minutes until everything is heated through.
  • Sprinkle chopped green onions over the top before serving. Enjoy your homemade Shrimp Lo Mein hot, straight from the wok!

Notes

  • Use Fresh Ingredients: Fresh shrimp and crisp vegetables enhance the overall flavor and texture.
  • Don’t Overcook the Noodles: Al dente noodles work best to prevent a mushy texture.
  • High Heat is Key: Stir-frying at high heat ensures everything cooks quickly without becoming soggy.
  • Customize Your Vegetables: Feel free to add mushrooms, broccoli, or baby corn for extra variety.
