Virgin Mojito Recipe
Rebecca
I just made this delicious virgin mojito, and I have to say, it was a total hit! The tangy lime and refreshing mint paired with bubbly sparkling water create the kind of drink you want to sip all day.
Total Time 5 minutes mins
- 10 mint leaves
- 2 tablespoons lime juice
- 2 tablespoons honey simple syrup
- 10 ounces sparkling water plain or flavored
- Ice optional
- Lime slices for garnish, optional
Start by placing the mint leaves in your glass (or serving jar) along with the lime juice. Gently muddle the two together using a muddler or the handle of a wooden spoon. This step is essential to release the mint’s oils and combine it with the lime juice for that signature mojito aroma and flavor.
Pour in the honey simple syrup, giving the drink a natural sweetness. You can adjust the quantity to match your sweetness preference. Stir it lightly to mix the syrup with the muddled mint and lime juice. It should start smelling amazing already!
Slowly pour sparkling water into the glass. For the best results, choose plain sparkling water or a mildly flavored option like lime or lemon. The fizzy bubbles make the drink effervescent and refreshing. Stir gently to ensure everything is well combined.
Finally, garnish your virgin mojito with a slice of lime, a sprig of fresh mint, or even some fresh fruit like berries, if you want to jazz it up. Add some ice cubes if desired and serve immediately to enjoy the freshest flavor.
- Use fresh mint leaves for the best aroma and flavor. Frozen or dried mint just doesn’t deliver the same effect.
- If you’re prepping for a crowd, chop the mint roughly with a knife to save time instead of muddling individual servings.
- Honey simple syrup is the secret to most great mojitos. If you don’t have it, you can quickly make it by mixing equal parts honey and warm water until dissolved.
- Substitute sparkling water with ginger ale for a spicier twist or a lemon-lime soda if you prefer extra sweetness.
- Store leftover simple syrup in an airtight container in the fridge for up to four weeks, so you’re always prepared for your mojito cravings.
