- 3ยผ cupsย all-purpose flour
- 2ยผ tspย instant yeastย (1 packet)
- ยผ cupย sugar
- 1 tspย salt
- 4 largeย eggs, room temperature
- ยฝ cupย warm milk
- ยพ cupย unsalted butter, very soft
- 1 tspย vanilla extractย (optional, sweet-style brioche)
Egg wash:
- 1 egg + 1 tbsp milk
๐ฉโ๐ณ Instructions
1๏ธโฃ Activate & mix
In a bowl, mix warm milk, yeast, and 1 tbsp sugar. Rest 5 minutes until foamy.
Add eggs, remaining sugar, salt, vanilla, and 2 cups flour. Mix until sticky.
2๏ธโฃ Knead & add butter
Gradually add remaining flour.
Knead 5โ7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Knead in soft butter, 1 tbsp at a time, until dough is glossy and stretchy (8โ10 minutes).
3๏ธโฃ First rise
Place dough in a greased bowl. Cover and rise 1โ1ยฝ hours until doubled.
4๏ธโฃ Shape
Punch down dough. Divide into 3โ4 balls.
Place into a buttered loaf pan. Cover and rise again 30โ45 minutes.
5๏ธโฃ Bake
Brush with egg wash.
Bake at 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) for 25โ30 minutes until deep golden.
Cool 15 minutes before slicing.
