๐Ÿงพ Ingredients

  • 3ยผ cupsย all-purpose flour
  • 2ยผ tspย instant yeastย (1 packet)
  • ยผ cupย sugar
  • 1 tspย salt
  • 4 largeย eggs, room temperature
  • ยฝ cupย warm milk
  • ยพ cupย unsalted butter, very soft
  • 1 tspย vanilla extractย (optional, sweet-style brioche)

Egg wash:

  • 1 egg + 1 tbsp milk

1๏ธโƒฃ Activate & mix

In a bowl, mix warm milk, yeast, and 1 tbsp sugar. Rest 5 minutes until foamy.
Add eggs, remaining sugar, salt, vanilla, and 2 cups flour. Mix until sticky.


2๏ธโƒฃ Knead & add butter

Gradually add remaining flour.
Knead 5โ€“7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Knead in soft butter, 1 tbsp at a time, until dough is glossy and stretchy (8โ€“10 minutes).


3๏ธโƒฃ First rise

Place dough in a greased bowl. Cover and rise 1โ€“1ยฝ hours until doubled.


4๏ธโƒฃ Shape

Punch down dough. Divide into 3โ€“4 balls.
Place into a buttered loaf pan. Cover and rise again 30โ€“45 minutes.


5๏ธโƒฃ Bake

Brush with egg wash.
Bake at 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) for 25โ€“30 minutes until deep golden.
Cool 15 minutes before slicing.
