  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 160g (1¼ cups) all-purpose flour
  • 40g (⅓ cup + 1 tbsp) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 120g (⅔ cup) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 banana, halved lengthwise (optional topping)
  • Extra chocolate chips for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease a loaf pan and line with parchment paper.

  5. Add the dry ingredients into the banana mixture. Fold gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips, reserving some for the top.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Place the banana halves on top and sprinkle with extra chocolate chips.
  8. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Cool for 10–15 minutes before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.
