Ingredients (2 servings)
- 2 cups (500 ml) water
- 1 tablespoon fresh turmeric root, grated (or 1 teaspoon turmeric powder)
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger root, grated
- 1 cinnamon stick (or ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon)
- Juice of 1 fresh lemon (about 2–3 tablespoons)
- 1–2 tablespoons raw honey (adjust to taste)
- Optional: a pinch of black pepper (can increase absorption of curcumin from turmeric)

Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Roots
- Wash the turmeric and ginger thoroughly.
- Peel if desired.
- Grate or finely chop both roots.
Step 2: Simmer
- Pour 2 cups water into a saucepan.
- Add the grated turmeric, grated ginger, and cinnamon stick.
- Bring to a gentle boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 10–15 minutes.
- For a stronger flavor, simmer up to 20 minutes.
Step 3: Strain
- Remove from heat.
- Strain the liquid into a mug or heat-safe container.
- Discard the solids and cinnamon stick.
Step 4: Cool Slightly
- Allow the drink to cool for 3–5 minutes.
- Avoid adding honey to boiling-hot liquid, as excessive heat may affect some of its natural qualities.
Step 5: Add Lemon and Honey
- Stir in the fresh lemon juice.
- Add raw honey and mix until dissolved.
- If using black pepper, add a small pinch and stir.
Serving Suggestions
- Drink warm in the morning.
- Enjoy after meals.
- Serve chilled over ice during hot weather.
Stronger Concentrate Version
For a week’s supply:
- 1 liter water
- 50 g fresh turmeric root
- 50 g fresh ginger root
- 3 cinnamon sticks
- Juice of 3 lemons
- 6–8 tablespoons raw honey
Simmer turmeric, ginger, and cinnamon for 20–25 minutes. Strain and cool. Add lemon juice and honey. Store refrigerated in a sealed glass bottle for up to 5 days. Shake before use and dilute with warm water when serving.
